Yesse Kim 17, was born in Seoul, Korea, and began piano lessons at the age of six.
She was the prize winners of competitions in Korea, including Kukmin Ilbo National Competition, Teenager National Piano Competition, and Music Education News Competition. In 2001, she was selected to perform for the Kumho Prodigy Series as the youngest in their history. Her orchestra debut was at the age of nine with Daejeon Sangrok Orchestra and later was chosen to perform with Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. At Asia Chopin Piano Competition held in Japan, she placed 1st in elementary division. In 2004 and 2005, she had traveled to China to perform as a part of Korea-China Exchange Concert of Piano Prodigies.
After moving to Michigan in 2006, she won 1st prizes at Yamaha Music Teachers National Association Competition in Michigan, Michigan Music Teachers Association Concerto Competition, Schoolcraft College Piano Competition, and Rosalie Edwards Music Competition. Last year, she won 3rd place at Kingsville International Piano Competition in Texas. She has been a featured young artist with Birmingham-Bloomfield Symphony and Ann Arbor Symphony.
